Simple Assault

An attempt to cause serious physical harm that does not result in physical contat with the victim.

Example:
Client: *approaches staff and stands approx 2 feet away from staff* "May I go to the gym?"
Staff: "Unfortunately the gym is currently closed, how about we play a board game or turn some music on and dance in the day room instead?
Client: "I swear you always say the gym is closed! Im going to slap you! *raises hand; does not make contact with staff*

Aggrivated Assault

An attempt to cause serious physical harm that does result in physical contact with the victim.

Injuries sustained under this category do not require immediate medical attention.

Example:
Client "Bob": *client is observed pacing back and forth while making mention of demons possessing him*
Staff: "Hey, Bob! Are you feeling okay?"
Client "Bob": "DEMON!!!!" *puches staff in chest*

Assault & Battery

An attempt to cause serious physical harm that would result in ijuries that would require immediate medical attention

Example:
Staff: "Mr Grey, its time for you to take your meds! The med nurse is waiting at the med window for you"
Mr Grey (client): "I said I DONT WANT MY MEDS! If you ask me again this chair is going upside your head!"
Staff: "Would you please just take your insulin for me? I want to be sure you stay healthy"
Mr Grey (client): *Grabs chair and chucks it at the staff's head causing a fractured skull*
