Day 1: Computer Hardware


A standard computer workstation setup is made up with the following parts: computer tower, monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, and speakers.


A computer tower is a metal box that contains the motherboard, hard drive, power supply, RAM, and CPU.

A monitor is connected to the computer tower by a VGA, DVI, or USB cable. The monitor will display the images and text from the computer tower.

A keyboard is used to send communications to the computer.

A mouse is used to send communication to the computer by left, right, and double clicks.

Printer is used to print images and text from the computer onto paper.

Speakers are used to play sound from the computer.

Below are other components that are needed for a computer workstation setup:

A ethernet cable is used to connect a computer to the network. Some computers have Wi-Fi compatibility and do not need an ethernet cable. Connection to the network will allow user to access shared network drives and the internet.
