This creative writing unit is an introduction to poetry. We will be using different forms of poems to express our lives and the things that we have been through both good and bad to create poems that will inspire, encourage and build our own and others self esteem. Unit includes: anaphora poems, reversal poems, black out poems, I am poems, and methapor poems.
I am poems is an effective way to introduce students to poetry and encourage self-reflection through writing.
Black out poems are already written on the page, but it is up to the blackout poet to bring new meaning and life to these words.
Reversal Poems poems that can be read forwards (top to bottom) and have one meaning, but can also be read backwards (bottom to top) and have a different or opposite meaning.
Anaphora Poems is the repetition of a certain word or phrase at the beginning of successive lines of writing.
In I Am Poems they are all about a person which is what makes it unique. It is a way for people to introduce themselves to others, with topics that might not come up in every day conversation. The author is able to share emotions and feelings, and imagination and senses.
In Black Out Poetry there is something about this process that is quiet and exciting and sacred and transformative. Like any other good creative undertaking does, making blackout poetry keeps leads you to discoveries about yourself.
An Anaphora Poem is used to appeal to the emotions of the audience, in order to persuade, inspire, motivate, and encourage them.
